The project Basel Salon explores the diverse coiffure and beauty salons in the city of Basel. These vibrant, sometimes intimidating spaces spark my curiosity, encouraging me to step inside and take a closer look at that particular profession. What stands out is the sheer number of salons, each with its unique window displays and
décor.
Equally intriguing is the social aspect of these spaces, where people gather and interact. The hair salon is a crucial part of the urban fabric. It is, in fact, the only place where personal care—perhaps especially that of men—is openly displayed in the vitrine. The photo project aimes to capture the essence of these spaces through analog photography, exploring the salons’ architecture, materials, atmosphere, and foremost the vibrant life they contain.

Basel Salon was featured in L’Atelier magazine (Lausanne) in 2025, under the theme “Pleasure.” It accompanied a text by Loïc Cao titled “Make Me Be Who I Was.”
